Distribution of the safe and highly effective Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been temporarily paused in Colorado following 6 cases of an extremely rare blood clot (note that more than 6.8 million shots have been administered in the U.S.). This pause is done for public safety and will allow time to analyze if the rare blood clots are connected to the vaccine or not.
Patients who are currently scheduled for the J&J vaccine might receive the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or may be rescheduled to a later date. COVID-19 vaccines are still the best way to protect yourself and others from serious illness or death from the virus.
