Janet Rasmussen, Clinica Family Health, Chosen as CCHN Advocate of the Year

DENVER― On March 17, CCHN presented the CCHN Advocate of the Year Award to Janet Rasmussen, the Chief Integrated Services Officer for Clinica Family Health, at CCHN’s Policy and Issues Forum.

“Janet has been a part of the CHC family for over 30 years, including time as the director of CCHN!” said Annette Kowal, CEO and President of CCHN. “In 1994, she joined Clinica Family Health as an assistant director, responsible for day-to-day administrative operations for the organization. Janet took a sabbatical to raise her beautiful children but couldn’t stay away from CHCs! She returned to Clinica as a grant writer and public policy advocate and in 2011 became the Director of Accountable Care and Behavioral Health.”

“Janet is a superstar advocate. She has attended all CCHN and National Association of Community Health Centers Policy and Issues Forums (P&I) since her return to Clinica and has helped to ensure Clinica staff and board members have the opportunity to attend. Clinica usually has our highest number of registrations, often needing three full tables at an in-person P&I! Janet helps staff and board members feel comfortable sharing their stories with legislators and has helped to create many new health center advocates throughout her time in the CHC family.”

The Colorado Community Health Network (CCHN) is the unified voice for Colorado’s 21 Community Health Centers (CHCs) and their patients. CHCs provide a health care home to more than 830,000 of their community members – more than one in seven people in Colorado – from 61 of the state’s 64 counties. Without CHCs, hundreds of thousands of Colorado’s low-income families and individuals would have no regular source of health care. CCHN’s mission is to increase access to high quality health care for people in need in Colorado. For more information about CCHN, please visit www.cchn.org.
